Bihar’s scenic beauty and greenery fascinate tourists

As the state leadership battles hard to shed the state’s “negative image” causing a lot of harm to its fortunes, tourists seem to be falling in love with Bihar for various reasons!

Two men from Punjab on a recent visit to the state recently got so much fascinated by its scenic beauty, sprawling green fields and silky roads that they stopped midway, shot videos of the areas through their cell phones and posted on social media getting more than 1.5 million views so far.

Reports said the two men were travelling by NH-27 when they came down from their car near Phulparas in Madhubani district, unable to hold their emotions and began expressing their feelings by recording the scenic beauty through their mobile cameras.

“When I planned to visit Bihar this time, one of my friends questioned my idea saying ‘Bihar me kya khash hai ji?’. But see, Bihar is far better than Punjab and Haryana in terms of scenic beauty and greenery. Even the roads here are better than Hema Malini’s cheeks,” says one of the visitors in the video which is making waves on social media.

“We thought there would be hardly any roads in Bihar. We formed this opinion after watching news about the state on TV but in reality, there is nothing like that,” said another visitor recording the video adding, “Bihar bahut hi shandaar hai. Bihar America jaisa hai…Switzerland bhi fail kar Rakha hai ji!”

Stating that they were also spellbound by the smooth and silky roads amid various formations of clouds in the sky, they blamed the media for painting a negative image of the state saying, “News-walon ne aapko badnaam kar Rakha hai.” They added that they came to Bihar for the first time and fell in love with the state on their maiden visit itself.

Another tourist Mehul Lakhani, more popular as “Bharat Yatri” too heaped praises on the state after knowing it from a close through his cycle tour. Mehul, a teacher from Madhya Pradesh who quit his job to go on cycle tour across the country to bring “cycle revolution” too is impressed by the state. “Bihar is a wonderful state. It is entirely different from what I had read in the newspapers. A visit to this state transmits positive energy,” Mehul, who reached Patna on Friday, said.

This youth has been on tour of the country since June 21, 2021 and has covered 20 states through cycle so far. “I want to bring a cycle revolution in the whole of the country,” he told the media.

Old timers say Bihar suffered the first major setback when it was likened to the proverbial “Jungle Raj” in the 90’s after caste riots and massacres became the order of the day. The very epithet has now dealt a major blow to state’s interests in many ways, one of them being the big ticket investors refusing to invest in the state despite all efforts by the state government and rolling out red carpets for them, they said.
