Bihar creates 33,916 new secondary school teacher posts

Bihar Government has created 33,916 new posts for secondary school teachers, in order to ensure secondary school facilities in every Panchayats. The newly created posts include 1,000 computer teachers.

At present 2,950 Panchayats in Bihar don’t have a secondary school.

The decision to create the new teaching posts has been taken by the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. It is a part of the chief minister’s promise to provide secondary school level education in all the 8,386 Panchayats of the state.

According to an official statement released after the state cabinet meeting, the state government has made alternate arrangements to provide secondary school education through the middle schools of the Panchayats where there is no secondary school.

The government has made preparation to start 9th class education from April 2020 in the middle school of the identified Panchayats where there is no secondary school facilities, the official statement said. Due to Covid-19 pandemic classes have not started for the new academic session starting from April 2020. It is uncertain when the classes will start. However, the state government has started an hour long online teaching session for class 9th and 10th students on Doordarshan Bihar.

The government had earlier taken a decision to start 9th class education in middle schools with the help of retired teachers. Some retired teachers have been roped in on deputation basis to conduct the classes.
